Wood Furnace Wiring Help needed

I have a free standing wood furnace I just set up in my shop. I do not have any idea how to wire the furnace up with a thermostat. I currently have the front blower on a switch and the rear air blower on a switch which is working fine.

I would now like to wire it up properly to avoid overheating the fire box and just make it more simple to operate.

A simple hand drawing or wiring diagram would be awesome.

Photos attached of the components I have. Of course I have a thermostat.

I have had some expirience with these years ago. I am trying to remember which of those limit switches are used for which fan, I think it goes like this...The larger adjustable limit switch is used for the blower (the one to move the hot air into the room) this would be set so the blower would not run if there was not a fire in the unit even if the thermostat were calling for heat. The smaller limit switch is for the combustion air blower (the one on the front of the unit) this would be set to keep the air between the firebox and the outside shell at about 150 degrees. The other component you have there is a 24v to 110v relay. It is used to turn the blower on that circulates the warm air using a 24v thermostat. You may need to play around with the relay a little to figure it out. just looking I would assume the the black and white shown are to power the transformer. I would connect power to the transformer then cross the two thermostat wires still connected to the relay and see if you have continuity between the red wire and the connection marked line on the side marked main pole. If the line and load on the main side have continuity when the thermostat wires are crossed and no continuity when they are not then the wiring should be fairly simple. For the forced air blower go to the limit switch first then to the relay then to the blower. For the combustion blower break the hot wire going to the combustion fan and connect it to each side of the smaller switch Hope that helps.

i'll get the ball rolling with some educated guess work and maybe these guys will jump on stuff and correct me :)

#1 is the blower in the firebox .. it should be wired through the device in picture #5 .. that observation is based on the temps written on the dial ... i bet if a fella put a meter on that when it was being heated it would closed until temp was reached then it would open up .. so it should be wired in to break the black, killing power to the blower

#2 is the fan that blows cool air across the fire box and into your ductwork

#6 & #7 are two sides of a relay .. #6 is the voltage side that you tie to your tstat .. #7 is the reverse of that there de-vice, the line voltage side .. the symbols on the side mean normally open and normally closed
Contacts.gif

you want to hook #2 to that to terminals that are normally open until the tstat sends a signal to close

#3 & #4 are a newer looking tstat that someone looks to have screwed to the side of the unit .. maybe it means that #6/#7 is dead, or maybe they didn't know how to wire it .. i'm guessing the latter since putting a tstat on a heat source is as dumb as a feedsack full of night crawlers

edit .. what dfiler said about the high a low limit make a lot of sense

PM me an email address and I'll get you a copy of the wiring diagram to my furnace later tonight. It's not the same as yours but should be close. I have no idea how to scan something and put it on here.
