Wood on Concrete ok?

Hi all,

I'm about to build steps in my garage. The first floor is a floating slab, poured last summer, with insulation, vapor barrier and in-floor heat (not hooked up yet but that's another story).

Is it ok for my stair stingers, and base step, to rest on the bare concrete or should there be some kind of barrier, like rubber?

My steps are close to my service door so water (from rain and snow) could easily seep under the wood if it's just resting directly on the cement.

Thanks!

Gotta use LVL for the stringers (so I can go without any top landing support) and the bottom step has one round end (where the newel post goes) and it's covered with an oak veneer.

So with that info, what do you think?

Thanks!

Put neatly trimmed 15 pound felt (black "paper" that goes on roofs under shingles) between the wood and the concrete. Don't look back.

I like a scrap of 3-tab shingle or roll roofing cut to size and tacked to the underside of the stringer base with a couple of #3 box nails.

This is what I have previously used. When my carpenter was doing my outer wall garage pressure treated plate he used a type of foam tape for this application.
