Hi If I were you I would do the math. Pellets in NW have about 8500 btu per pound. At 80% efficiency (?) It will take about 14lbs or $1.75 to produce a therm.

I have two pellet stoves in my house, both made by Englander.
The one upstairs is a smaller model while I have their bigger unit in the living room down stairs. We only light the one upstairs at bedtime.
You can find them really cheap if you buy them in the off season. I bought both of mine used and have about $800 in the pair with chimneys included.
My house is a2300 sq ft 2 story farm house with old windows and two drafty french doors. I have to get 8 tons to last the full year (my wife keeps it 75-80) at a cost of $175 per ton delivered. I havnt yet used my propane furnace to date.
I like it, not having to cut, split, haul wood. The ash amount a pellet stove leaves behing is about a 16oz cup full per day- nothing compared to a wood stove. No mess in the house or worries about chimney fires either.
If you do purchase one go to menards for your stove pipe. Their the cheapest ive found and you can buy the parts piece by piece vs spending $200+ on one of those pre made vent kits.
