I have a wooden fixture I made that I need to run through a planer to get perfectly flat. There are a couple tiny brads in the wood that I can not get out. How fragile are the blades on a planer? Would it destroy them if I did this? Thanks

Well to the planer, tiny brads are tough to chew on. Each one will probably leave a nick in one or more of your blades. Brads from nail guns don't extract well, as you found out. BUT they can keep going. Can you use a nail punch to knock them down and get them out of the way?

I didn't think about that. I think that may work. Thank you.

you will ruin the blades, if they are already on their way out its not that bad, but if i were going to run something like that i would throw on a set af already junk "rough" blades

If you can't get the nails out of the way, you could flatten it with a router and a sled instead of a thickness planer. The router bit will shrug off a nail easier than the planer knives, and it's cheaper to replace if you damage it.
