Wood Shop Floor

So I just bought and moved in to my house in the Texas Hill Country. There is a 14x15 wodd-framed shed that I plan on using as my little shop. It has a wood floor that is in good shape. Hoewever, I would like to coat the wood with something that will stand up to occasional oil (and suspension fluid) drips/spills.

What is the consensus opinion here on what is best to use?

Can you post any pics of your floor? What kind of wood was used: laminate flooring, 2x4's, 4x8's, something else?

What kind of shape is it in? Is it stained, does it have oil spots on it, is it flat?

I will try to remember to snap a photo or two this evening. It is 4x8 plywood sheets for the flooring. I am not opposed to either replacing it or even covering it with more (if that would help insulation any...).

Have you looked into vinyl sheet flooring or even vinyl tiles? Those are both very easy to clean up and will protect the wood underneath from spills and stains as long as they're cleaned up in a timely manner. Don't leave hydraulic fluid or brake fluid spilled on it for days or weeks.

The paint guy in me wants to say use epoxy! But that can be quite difficult on wood flooring, especially with multiple plywood boards and not knowing your climate. If it gets cold then warm often the boards are most likely going to shift and/or warp a bit.

I am kind of leaning towards the porch/deck paint. I have thought about vinyl tiles too. That would be easy enough to do. I've also thought about truck bed coating. I dunno, I'm kind of all over the place on this.

Climate? Well, hot...I mean HOT...until about late October, then moderate, and mix in a few freezing days. Texas weather is bi-polar.

Try garage floor paint. It is similar to the porch paint but will handle abrasion and heat a little better

Treadplex! When I painted houses years ago, we used it frequently on decks and it held up well. I ended up with a bunch of extra, used it on random projects, it held up well. It's available through Sherwin Williams.

I don't know what they charge for it these days, but ten years ago it definitely wasn't the cheapest product.

Yes, Vortex sprayliner would do an awesome job on that floor. Any color you want too.
