I am making a set of three signs for our town the ones we have are vinyl on aluminum reflective green.

The wood is hemlock kiln dried and glued up the haves will be glued up with a spline joint for alignment.

The CNC did the 2d cutouts and text, the texturing and 3d I am doing by hand.

The human computer is more eficient for that task

The small one was a prototype, the fence line I extended and I will tone down the established panel to an off white it pulls to much attention away I think being pure white.

The covered bridge is modeled from the one that leads to our fairgrounds.

Obviously these will be exposed to harsh year round weather. What kind of paint do you use? How long will they last before needing touch-up or total re-paint?

Nicely done. It fits well with the small town nature of the area. I thought I recognized the name as I spent many summers passing through the area on Rt 209 and staying at the Rondout Valley campground when I was MUCH younger.

The wood is base stained with Sakrete concrete pigment it does not fade, coated with cwf deck and siding preservative, the paints are exterior acrylic and latex. I have had signs out for ten years that still look good, though a maintenance touch up should be done every 4-5 years.

My first piece of property I bought was in kerhonkson just down the road from that campground. The Catskill and Shawangunk Mountain area is a great place to live.

Great work as always.

Has to be pretty awesome to drive past something you made every time you leave town.

Very very nice. Great use of mixed disciplines.
Why not go HDU?

I miss working the creative side of the sign industry.

Now I spend my days arguing for the 1st Amendment rights of businesses against city, county, state and federal governments.

I don't like HDU, lots of sign makers do, I don't, its easy to machine but has no structural strength and I have seen one split in half from strong wind obviously the sign maker screwed up on supports its a shame it was gold leafed. Hail damage is another problem.

I have used dense composites though weight is an issue, wood lasts a long time properly done, and is very easy to spruce up. Why machine hdu to look like wood or use a blasting screen when you can just use the real thing?
