About a month ago I was staining my overhead Pergola in the backyard and spilled a little stain on the concrete slab underneath. I used Olympic Max.
I was considering doing something to the concrete slab, stain or brick veneer or in/out carpet.....so the spill wasn't a big catastrophe or any thing and I didn't try to clean it up. The wood stain actually looks really good on the concrete! It's about a square foot or so and has a mottled rust/brown look. In the month that it's been there it hasn't faded or scratched off or peeled.
I'm tempted to stain the remainder of the 7' by 12' slab with the wood stain.

Any thoughts on this?

Wood stain is mostly pigment (inert). It may or may not hold up.
The remainder of the product is solvent and binder.

Chances are it's sitting on the surface and may not last that long.
It may be less expensive to use a stain designed for concrete and it will likely be better for the environment as concrete stain contains no solvent.

The house I am in now had the decks and concrete patio stained redwood when we moved in 16 years ago. Really looked OK, but as time marched on, it started to break down. Main problem was that it became quite a patchy spotty mess. Finally decided to try and pressure wash it as it was pretty flaky. Uncover another problem. Because concrete is porous, in many spots the stain had soaked in and would NOT come up no matter what you tried to do to make the whole surface look relatively the same.

Ended up redoing the whole slab with pavers. Looks great now..........finally!
