Wood stove glass !!

What do you use to clean the door glass on your wood burning stove????
Thought I'd get your recomendation before attempting my new install.:bowdown:

Cook top cleaner works the best. Glass cook tops of course.

Wet paper towel and some of the ash from the stove works best on my wood and pellet stoves. Windex or other like cleaners are bad for them, will eventually develop a haze. And...I believe it's actually a ceramic, not glass.

As others have said ash on a damp paper towel is best. Cleaners will damage the gasket over time and they are messy and will stain the hearth.
Ash can be used to polish and clean just about anything.

Oh ya, and the build up on the glass should be minimal if your stove drafts properly and you are burning good DRY, hardwoods.

Reading this thread I looked over at my wood stove and figured I would give it a try. Last time I removed the door and used nasty chemicals outside. Yes, the wet paper towel dipped in ash from last night's fire works!

I was pretty skeptical when I read about using the ashes too, but it does work great. I learned about it from hearth.com which is the website for everything related to wood burning.
