Not sure if I should ask here or the heating - a/c forum....But here goes.

What's a good brand name to go with? I just got my stove out of storage and it got some surface rust where some of the old paint flaked off. I know I need to sand or wire brush it down and get it as clean as possible.

Is there some paint out there better....Or are they mostly the same and I'm just paying for the name?

Just scuff off and put some black back over it. I wouldn't bother about a name brand. Its not a highly competitive product with lots of makers. Probably 2 places in the country make it, bottle all the rest under a few labels.

I hit mine every few years and the paint is great to make the stove look new. Have used Stove bright most of the time but Lows did not have it the last time I was there so got another brand. Looked great but at first startup it smoked/smelled like the dickens. Stove brite seemed to not do this... Just my .02

I'm very happy with the high heat paint that I purchased from Eastwood. It went in more like regular paint than the VHT that I used before and still looks good after 5 years.

I've repainted mine several times over the last thirty years. Stove Bright is the brand to use. It needs to be set properly and does smoke like crazy for the first few minutes but good to go thereafter. It's sold at most stores that sell wood burning stoves.
