Funny topic. I would love a stove in the shop but it is against fire code and most insurance companies, including mine, will drop the whole policy if they find a stove installed. However, my local AHJ was willing to permit a stove in my polebarn so long as it was 18" off the floor and epa certified.

The proper stove for a shop is EPA certified, non-cat, plate steel, cheap, and of large capacity. The Englander NC30 is the stove to buy if you want a new one. It will munch vast quantities of lumber scraps, cardboard, and firewood. Cooktop as well.

the stove i have was made around the late 80's. it's used in my cellar but i'm thinking of putting it in the garage. it's made of 10 gauge steel, can take around 20 inch long wood and has a blower on it. it works really well, its made by thermoblaze. i need to put a stove pipe thru the wall, could someone recommend the type that i should use.
