Does any one know the difference in haveing a insert with vermiculite around it and just haveing a insert with no insulation. Will it make the pipe creosote up faster?

Are you talking about a pipe inserted into an existing flue? Theoretically an insulated pipe should stay cleaner. As the flue gasses rise and cool, they slow down and gasses below have to push them along. The more they slow and get heavy, the more they deposit. An insulated pipe should stay hotter and not allow the gasses to cool as quickly.

This. But the vermiculite makes less of a difference on double wall liner which already insulates a bit. Also, the double wall should have a smooth interior that holds less creosote and has a better draft.

It is a single wall liner. It is in side a brick chimney with the top inclosed. It was my only heat but i now have a ventless heater so it will not be used as much. I would like to have a double wall pipe but that wouldnt be cheap.
