Hi I just today bought an Ashley woodstove. From doing some research after looking at the firebox, my stove is lined with what look like cast iron plates called that are called Ashley liners. The plates are held in by brackets that look like normal firebrick brackets. Now Are these plates the same as firebrick? or do I need to figure out how to fit in Firebrick to the firebox?

Here's a link to a replacement Ashley liner of what I'm talking about.

Stan, Welcome to the garage journal. If someone here is unable to answer your question you might try hearth.com. Some very smart people over there like just like we have here. They taught me a lot when we started heating only with wood.

I had a similar stove years ago. The plates serve the same purpose as firebrick, keeping fire from overheating the stove sides.

I don't know the answer to your question, but another place to ask is the, Firewood and Wood Heating, section of the The Forestry Forum. I have a 30 year old Ashley that does have fire brick.

No you need a through the wall or ceiling kit and then insulated Selkirk pipe to the top. You can use regular stove pipe inside to connect your stove to the trough the wall kit. It's best to go through the ceiling with no bends. I believe by code you are only allowed 2- 90 degree bends in the whole chimney. Also my whole chimney cost twice as much as my stove:eyecrazy:
