Hi Guys,

I’m back and forth between metalworking and wood projects. Got a new dowel kit and had some scrap wood and with a few days off from work this happened...

My wife has been out of town and doesn’t know this will replace our current coffee table... maybe

Careful. If she wants a dining room she will be out of town for a month. Hmmm

Looks good, I like the style. My only critique would be that there appears to be no allowance for wood movement with the end caps on the top. Might see some craking with humidity changes over time.

Very nice job. Will you paint it? Or leave it like this?

Interesting table.

Adjustable height?

And now for an IMPORTANT safety question and/or reminder ...

That quart metal can on the floor with the wadded up rag.

Is that some sort of "oil" finish in that can? Boiled linseed oil, danish oil, wiping polyurethane varnish, etc?

If so, NEVER NEVER NEVER leave a rag with an oil-based finish wadded up !!!!!!!

It WILL generate enough heat from the oil 'curing' (reacting with the oxygen in the air to cure the finish) to possibly spontaneously ignite.

Put rag with the oil-based finish on it laid out flat (one layer, no folds, no laying over on itself) on a non-combustible surface (concrete, steel, etc) OR clipped outside on a clothesline (or a special-purpose "rag line") again in a single layer. Or put the rag in a bucket of water.

I understand your concern but the rag is fine and safe from exploding and burning the house down….

yea it’s adjustable it has holes on the side as well if that makes sense ???
