finally one came up close to me. looks like its in great shape, I pick it up friday. little bigger than what I was looking for, I was worried about power but it looks like it uses the same 125A breaker and wire as the 250. anyone have a syncrowave in their garage? whats the deal with the HF grounding? Im looking at grounding my storage racks, conduit and the metal roof. thanx for any inputs.

Without a very good ground, you can end up with feedback through all of your electronics/electricals in the house. It was convenient for me to just put in a new ground rod for that circuit. I had a SW180, but sold it prior to my move west. I miss the hell out of it, although my tig hand/eye is about gone. I'll replace it with a good MIG machine. Good find!

luckily my building is 100 feet from the house and on a seperate meter, but I want to be considerate of the HF noise. Looks like from the manual I will need to have multiple ground rods added around the perimeter of my shop. how bad do they interfere for an occasional use and then later a full use scenerio?

I've used TIG machines with High-Freq start in a shop setting before, and the only thing I noticed was some interference on the radio in the shop (regular FM radio reciever) and a few of the fluourescent fixtures would flicker when the HF was running. The shop was an old building on campus and didn't have any extra grounding or anything special installed. We had a bunch of computers and other things nearby and it didn't appear to affect any of them.

I have a Miller Aerowave at home now, and I haven't noticed any problems with HF, though I only use it occasionally. I would make sure everything in your work area has a good bond to ground, which is bonded to your electrical ground and it should be OK.
