I have the Kobalt one, but in black. I like it a lot. But it's more of a 'garage desk' than a real workbench that the majority of the people have here. I bought it knowing that and it has served me well. The drawers are very useful too.

But if you plan on doing anything heavy duty... look elsewhere... the metal isn't all that strong!

Forgive the mess in my garage, but I have the Craftsman workbench that you can customize to your needs.

I did the drawers on the left, the locking cabinet on the right and the stainless steel 8' work surface. All said and done it was around $1,000.

I think you can get very close to exactly what you need by combining some cabinets and building your own top and back. This is what I did and I am really pleased with it so far.

If you want the ultimate in rugged benches, put a couple inch thick slab of butcher block on top of a pair of the shorter Vidmar cabinets. You could park on top of it and not likely hurt it. Which reminds me, I need to find a second short Vidmar cabinet...

I am looking for a work bench and cabinets for my garage.
Below is what I have found that looks like may be a good solution, not perfect but workable.
Anyone have any feedback on these or any other suggestions?

The only trouble I can see is trying to sit at a chair while working at the bench. That bottom base part would keep a chair from being able to get close to it.

I LOVE THAT! When its closed, no one will walk through the garage and leave something sitting on the bench! Great Idea! (stolen if I can find a way to incorporate it into what I already have!
