Work Bench Designs?

Though it's not my garage, I have a good sized room down in my basement to use as a work shop. I've got about 6'1/2" in length I can work with on the wall I want the bench on, though I'd be fine with even a 4' table. The depth of the table does not matter, and I'd like the height to be around 36" since I'm 5'9". After a quick search of the forums, I couldn't find any designs I liked. I don't need anything fancy, and definitely not expensive. I'd ideally like to have a two tier work bench (one shelf underneath. I don't need it to hold the work up, but something tough would be preferred even if it's ugly. I'll be doing various wood working projects on it, and mount a small vise to it.

I figured this would be the place to ask, all you guys are so helpful. Does anybody have a design somewhat like I'm looking for? Plans and pictures would be appreciated!

There are lots of workbenchs to look at on this site. One suggestion, I did woodworking and carpentry in a basement for many years. My advice would be to incorporate some kind of dust collection into your workbench. In a basement, the dust does not have anyplace to go, so it gets on everything very quickly and it's hard to clean up if you have exposed rafters and deep shelves and such. It's bad for your lungs as well.

I built this one a couple years ago and love it:

Simple, took a few hours. Mine is 8ft x 32" deep so I put a set of legs
in the center also. I used 3/4" plywood for the top & shelf instead of the
OSB. Whole thing was well under $100. The garage will come down around
this thing before it ever lets go - I've had over 300lbs on the top and it
doesn't even flex....No fancy tools needed, just an afternoon of your time.
No, I don't do any metalwork nor does it have any drawers but I wanted
the open under-bench storage more than drawers. Perfect for my needs and
the big work surface is great.

Good luck with whatever design you go with.
