work bench question...

I am going to build a wood work bench in my garage. It will go in front of my pegboard wall section. It will be 8' length and 24-28" deep.

I got to checking around for ideas and seen a few with casters on it. I sorta like that idea that I can move out in floor area. That way I can move it out in the middle of garage if need work around each side of workbench.

I do have a steel work bench that I use too.

My garage is 30' wide and 40' deep. but I do park my 2 vehicles in it during winter and bad weather.

If you have one with casters ae you glad you went that way or think solid one better?

They do make casters that will let the bench sit down on to the floor.

I have a 24 inch wide x 8 ft long bench with .25 inch thick steel top, that is on locking casters. I like it portable to be able clean under/behind it. I am slowly getting everything I can on casters.

Bench on locking casters eases cleaning and adds a bit of height that i like. Those drop down casters look interesting. Easy to rearrange things too. (see another post asking about that)

I made these from left over square tubing, some 1/4” plate I found in the street, grade 8 bolts and nuts, and hockey pucks. The drop casters are from Amazon.
