The framing is finally done. Now I'm just waiting for the slab to be poured. Lift coming in the first week in October so I hope I get concreted this week!

And be sure to have them use a vapor barrier. Thought I'd mention it now since there is no turning back if they dont!

No to the electric meter. There is conduit run under the floor to the outside wall of the garage. Everything is in place. I'm just waiting for Public Service to come out and move the main power lines. Also thanks for the vapor barrier recommendation. I'll pass it on to my contractor.

If you know where you hoist is going, have your concrete contractor use rebar around that area for added strength. This will help to insure it won't crack around those areas. Also before the slab is poured, rent a plate tamper for a few hours and go around the perimeter and in the corners to firm up the gravel fill. Usually a garage is just filled with gravel and the slab poured on top. After a few years the gravel will settle and leave voids underneath. You can always tell in someones garage by walking around and thumping the floor with something like a spud bar. And it seems the corners will settle and water always wants to puddle there. Make sure the concrete is sloping away from the walls. Looking forward to more pics. Be sure to post.

The garage floor will be poured over what used to be my blacktop driveway. There is four inches of stone that has been down for approximately 22 years so I'm sure its well packed but I take the advice since I can come by a plate tamper at no cost to me. Cheap insurance!

NEED MORE PICTURES...there are those of us that live vicariously through others (garage wise until we start building our own).

Now that's a sleeper garage, looks downright ordinary from the outside, but VERY cool on the inside!
