Been wanting a good, small high powered one.

Found this at Lowes. Under $20. It is a plug in one, not battery. But for the price? 1000 lumens.

Should be great working under the car at dusk.

Can sit it on the built in stand or hang it with a piece of wire.

They have bigger more expensive ones with battery.

Do you have any Milwaukee tools? I love their M12 and M18 stick lights for working on cars. They have some even more powerful options for area lighting. If you don't already have the batteries for something else then they probably are not worth it. But you really want the M12 ratchet if you don't have it.

For under $20 and 1000 lumens how can you beat if it is there when you need it. Should be able to see quite a bit with that

Lights have come a long way since the old caged drop light with 75w incandescent bulb that always blew out every time the light got banged hard LOL!

And for LED cant beat the no heat either. Days of burning yourself with a 250w halogen bulb thing of the past right?

As long you have a power outlet and an extension cord your good to go.

You cant have too many lights though and I do like the cordless options too! I also have lights like the other poster mentioned.

So does have just the one setting or can it be dimmed?



I have to wonder if there such a thing as optimal amount of lumen for automotive work

Doesn't dim. I like the daylight color temp. on this one. I'm not a tech, but can already see that you can blind yourself with an LED light source pointed the wrong way. So you can have too much light. Would like a battery one too. And one that plugs into the car would be good for on the road emergencies. This one isn't even on Lowes website yet. Things are changing. More choices. Didn't really know these existed a year ago.

I have M12 and M18. Would like the ratchet. Will look at light.

For like $27 you can get the cordless CAT light from Costco.. very similar to what you have, but cordless, 2 settings, and has a USB output if that's your thing.. I actually own both.. the lowes model is pretty good for the price, but I gave up on cordless lights a while ago..
