Ok, I've seen this done before, but I can't think of the name of it to search for it.

I'm going to put my welding table on casters, but set it up so the casters will raise the table off the ground so it will roll and also lower the table so it's on the floor and stable.

Make sense?

Well, no luck so far. I've tried Raising casters, jacking casters, cam casters, cantilever casters.

I know I've seen it somewhere on here, and it was more than likely in the huge workbench thread, which already took me a LONG time going through it once.

BTW, jacking caster and jack and caster turns up EXACTLY what I need, except they're anywhere from $600 - $2200... EACH.

I guess I'll just have jack plates on each corner using 1" bolts and nuts attached to square plates for bigger footprint. That way I could easily level the table as well.

The one I remember seeing used trailer hitch jacks with the swivel wheel on them. One was mounted to each corner leg of the welding bench.

We built one like you're talking about at work, just used standard casters on a "subframe" under the table: it's on a set of firestone industrial airbags, so you just hook up some air and it picks the table up onto the wheels: let the air out, and it lets it down onto solid feet. Works very well, and it's one heavy puppy...
