With all the different trouble lights out there can I get some feed back for the good and bad? I'm not looking for a 4 foot long monster. More of a smaller versatile unit.

I saw the Stanley Satellite LED Worklight the other day. Looked interesting but not very durable.

LawnBoy is on to something. If you already own a line of cordless tools, see what they offer for worklights.

I have the Miilwaukee Fuel LED floodlight, and flashlight..they are both almost indestructible...I use them every day. THey run on the same Li-on batteries as my impact, drill, and ratchet.. The floodlight puts off more light than you will ever need ..(wear sunglasses)..and runs 10hrs on a charge..

I have ALOT of cordless lights. My favorite by far is my Capri tools / Neiko led light. That might get used EVERY time I do anything with the car and need a light. For $36 or so, you'll be hard pressed to find something better IMO.

Maybe could define some more what are you wanting out of a light before we just all start throw stuff out there :D

There has been everything posted around here from a $10 light to $200+ and everything in between!

Run time?
Lumens?
Price cap?

Just cordless or maybe hybrid too?

Possible 12v power source option?

Road use or just to have around the garage and yard?

Some AC rechargeable units from what I understand cant be used while charging.

Replaceable power source?

That's were I have been at with worklights and have quite a few of the different Milwaukee brand cordless lights...each has its use and limitations.

Most major power tool manufacturers offer some level of portable rechargeable lights.

Ryobi products is usually very competitively priced and the Ridgid brand has lots of interesting options.

That Stanley is an interesting concept for sure.

And I have become partial to those USB accessory ports in my cordless options also.

Correct - there is too much variation.

I have not gotten into rechargeables because I have many regular corded ones with fluorescent bulbs, and plugs everywhere, but probably will soon after I decide which is best.

A cheap. useful and durable light is an old time worklight with a CFL bulb in it. About as good as anything else with a cord.

Ok I pulled the trigger on a Stanley Satellite LED Worklight. Cheap $30 but you get what you pay for. Cute light but the Lithium Ion battery is not replaceable and no plug in cord (unless you count the charging cord). Does not feel like it would last long. Has a nice magnetic base and a hook which are pluses. If I can keep it alive it will be worth the $30. I could have done better but probably not for $30 or less. Funny how right after you buy something you start to see its shortcomings.

Astro 40SL is a good one. Very bright.

x3. Because I own two of them. These have a nice strong magnet that make them very handy and will actually point where you want them instead of in your face when you hang them from something. Very durable. Not the brightest I have used but pretty bright. I choose it over my snap on one every time mostly because of the versatility the magnet offers.

Im a big fan of long fluorescents. Corded. They throw alot of light to a large area. This and a clipon and a headlamp works for me. They are spendy, but you can find them used for a fair price.
Its one of those tools u buy once.

+1 for astro 40sl. you can it put it where you need it. It's bright enough, and it'll last a couple hours on medium. the magnet is also very strong. overall a great light.
