Evening Folks,
On craigslist there is a workbench posted for $20. My problem? Its too deep. The frame measures just over 30" deep. Ideally, I'd have a bench that was 27" deep with a frame that is around 24" in order to clear the cinder blocks around the perimeter of my garage. As it stands, the bench will be too deep and possibly block my garage door as well as be a few inches off the wall. The latter of which will irritate me to no end. I like this bench because its large, with drawers, and its cheap. Here are the two idea's I've of how to make it work in the space I have:
A) Chop up the rear leg and make it jig-jog in by a few inches so it clears the cinder blocks and then just deal with the depth. However, I'm not sure if this is going to be strong enough...
B) Chop the whole bench in half the long way and remove a 6 inches of depth so I can overhang the bench top off the back a few inches to make up the gap and clear the cinder blocks. However, this sounds like A LOT of work. Especially when it comes to the 4 drawers.
Thoughts?
