I was approached and asked to do a project for one of the local design firm in town. They wanted me to design and build a metal pivoting door for a glass walled conference room in their office.

This is what I came up with... It's made out of 11 gauge hot rolled mild steel and weights about 225 pounds. The round holes in the door are to allow air circulation in and out of the room when the door is closed. The circular discs on the lower right corner are concrete pucks needed to counterbalance the door about the centerline. I built bearing plates that mount at the floor and header for effortless operation. Neodymium magnets hidden in the door frame that center the door in the closed position.

Thanks for looking...

It looks great! Is the door finished, or will wood go on the right side? It looks like it could go either way…

That's a good design. It makes a statement. That's the type of thing a design firm would want, to impress a possible client coming in for a consultation. "We think outside the box (or doorframe)."

Anyone coming to Miami, be sure to visit the Coral Castle. Leonard Nimoy narrated about it, on "In Search Of." The backstory is interesting, and seeing the place is also interesting. The small guy who designed it and built it worked alone. He has a large doorway with a solid block of limestone that pivots with little effort. https://coralcastle.com/

Door is completed as you see it.... He wanted the raw hot roll finish... A coat of Johnson's floor paste wax was applied
Very cool . Did you decide in the shape or was that specified?
The office was finished two years before I was asked to get involved.... They were using the conference room without a door during that time...

Here's another project I got involved in with another architect and builder...
I declined doing the install and got a signed release because I wasn't comfortable with the lack of railings or safety protection.
The builder, architect and owner accepted that responsibility... I was responsible for the design, construction of the frame and actuators...

The owners neighbor ordered one after he saw it in operation....

Both are very cool .... I like using metal in my projects but it very hard to find people that can do it.
