When I'm in the welding shop I wear a leather apron, the tee shirts get wiped out by the grinder and the mig if I dont.

LS6, it’d be easy to modify the one you have - add a couple straps for a cross back and it will be much more comfortable.
There was a thread on these about a year ago... shop apron,who still uses one,and what type/brand?

I use one for knife making. Keeps a lot of crud off you from the belt sanders.

I wear a shop apron when I'm using the buffer on a car. That's about the only time. The buffer slings little white spots all over.

I wear one for Blacksmith work and welding. Grinding does clothes in pretty quick sometimes. It's great doing layout with convenient pockets.
I had a cheap one and upgraded to a high quality one from Moonshine Leather, Made in USA.
The cross back design is much better then the single over the neck strap.

I save old tee shirts and shirts to use in the garage. Don't do welding so it isn't an issue

I really like wearing this Hudson apron the fit is great & the cross strapping seems to really work, still getting in the habit of using it. It's really nice to just slip it off & be almost clean to run in to the house.

Originally, I was using lab coats like doctors wear; however, once I starting working on a lathe, I did not like the long sleeves and the heat of Georgia in the summer pushed me to look for a different option. I now use these aprons from Amazon. A 12 pack cost $25.50. The are fairly water repellant and machine washable. If one gets too far gone, I toss it and grab another one.

I have a couple like that but I kept catching hot stuff in the pocket so those stay by the lathe and drill press. I wear my leather and just deal with the heat, it's actually cooler than the denim when its burning!!!

Apron update, can't believe how good it works, I've been doing some paint stripping and using an apron really keeps you clean. It's one of those, why didn't I do this sooner, take it off and almost no mess, well worth it!

Not here. Most stuff I work with seems so grabby n sharp. Anything marginally loose or flappy gets sucked in, me with it.

I’ve got a couple. Never think to throw them on. I’ve seriously considered one for work as I tend to get the front of my uniform filthy every day.

I don't care about getting dirty, but today I was sanding, didn't wear it & my whole front was covered. Tomorrow I will wear it & see how much of a difference it makes sanding.

I use a denim apron when running the lathe or mill. Keeps the flinging oil and chips off of my clothes.

I have come to the conclusion that it's an old man thing. I never wore one when I was younger, didnt have time. Now I dont like the holes burnt into and the black oil slick on my shirt.

Made some changes to the Hudson apron. I really like having things at my fingertips and it’s already saving my street clothes.

Divided the top pocket to keep things upright and organized. Pencil, sharpie, Olfa razor knife, 6” machinists rule and a long tweezer.



The original plastic buckle was jamming up. I had to crawl out of it a couple times and it was a matter of time before I broke the buckle. Got a cobra style buckle and tri-bar adjuster. The metal parts are more appropriate for the apron and are much nicer in use. It should come with these.



Apron is so much easier and faster on and off. And the adjustment stays in place much better.

Those are two good upgrades, the open chest pocket definitely needed to be divided. I haven't broken the buckle yet but good to know, all in all I really like it & now I am used to wearing it.
