No matter what size, is the best solution to put the work table at the walls, or in the middle of the space you have?

I find that storage / workbenches against the wall work for some things. For woodworking I want a free standing workbench with access from all sides. Most mechanical work and ends is all I need.

Either way has it's merits, depending on the work you plan to do on the bench. Heavy work fabricating large items, in the middle. Light work done sitting at the bench like models and small parts repair then the bench against the wall rises into its glory. Only you know what happens in your place.
