Workwear - What's Ur new Threads

Trading in some of my heavier duck /cotton work pants and got some new threads.....ripstop flex type fabric. I'm sure durability will take a hit - the question is how long. But it's like 1/5 of the weight, doesn't feel like I'm wearing a wet dog on me.

I looked on the TrueWerk but settle in on the Carhart Flex series. Cut's not too bad either - it's a modern cut, aka, somewhere between slim and straight cut.

I've been wearing Riggs workwear by Wrangler for a number of years now. The heavy-ish ripstop cotton is comfortable and durable. The stain resistant claim isn't hooey -- they really do get less dirty and clean up better than one would expect. They run true to size. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone.

I'm sure we all have one or 2 carharts in the stash. My primary heavy cotton is Snickers.

Unless somethings changed major, I can't seem to find Carhartt Dark Brown in insulated vest, which is a pretty common item no ?

I just picked up another pair of the regular ripstop cargos (b342). But the fabric is heavy. Carharrt makes a flex type ripstop cargo but I read reviews that say the pants do stand up long.

Dungarees has factory 2nds for 30$.

Akin to the Patagonia warranty. I used to have coworker have his older son pass his older clothes to on to his youngest son. If there was a rip(defect) new jacket/pants/etc rinse and repeat....

For working in the shop I wear Dickies carpenter style jeans. In winter if I'm going to be outside mostly, Carhartt duck bib overalls. I recenty picked up a pair of USA made Carhartt duck double front pants since the price dropped. I figure those to be good wood making pants.

Duluth Firehose Flex. IME, they fit better and are more durable than the Carhartt I've owned.

I like Carhartt quick duck Full-swing line of stuff, not too heavy and not too light. I've also heard good things about the Duluth Firehouse pants but I'm limited to FR stuff so I haven't tried them myself.

Duluth has that extra bit of material that adds just the right amount of room in the crotch area. Allows for added movement for guys with large diameter thighs.

Arborwear tech pants. A little pricy, but wear like iron. I have several pairs going on 4-5 years and you'd never know it.

Carhartt pants run right up my crack, and wranglers riggs were cut way long at 30", duluths were downright uncomfortable.

Seems I can only wear wrangler cowboy or flex jeans. I'd love to find something else.

I was hoping ariat, but no love in the short department.

They use to be over $75 a pair when I looked at them a few years ago so when I saw $50 I jumped at them. My size was USA made, but I did notice some Mexico in other sizes. Not sure what the story there.

I have been partial to Wrangler Adventure pants. They have held up better then any blue jean I have own so far. They also make fleece insulated version for winter.

The B01 brown duck double fronts are a favorite of mine. All of mine are USA made which I like. The sandstone (chocolate brown) duck double fronts seem to be Mexico made. Still great britches I’ve got a couple pairs.

There is a local place that sells Carhartt factory seconds and I can usually dig up one or two pairs at $29 each and I usually can’t find the flaw.

They have since changed the warranty to 1 year. I still wear them because they hold up the best IMO.

Denim carpenter jeans in the summer. Duck carpenter jeans in the harsher months. I also have a pair of those Carhartt doublefront carpenter pants. I like them for cutting wood/clearing brush, etc. But I find them bulky and a bit awkward around the shop.

Double knees seem to be key for me. With young kids I seem to be on my knees all of the time.

Round house double front duck. $50 and USA made.

Prison Blues rigid double fronts. More supple than the ducks. About $30, USA made by prisoners (which could be good or bad). Also can specify hem for no additional cost. I like these, but my wife complains when I wear these out of house since they are a little baggy on me.

Wrangler ranger pants when it get hotter. Think these are usually $35.

Want to try Duluth, but they seem to discriminate against us small wimpy dudes with 30 inch waists.

The overall impression is rather like they came from a back alley in Nairobi, but those Duluth "Ballroom" pants really do make a massive difference.

I don't know how long they'll last, and they do shrink like hell if you're not careful on the first wash, but the comfort will blow your mind.

I purchased a pair of Dickie brand carpenter jeans from Menards over a year ago. They turned out to be a lot more durable than I expected. Purchased two more pairs this past summer and I have hard time telling the difference as far as wear or fading.

Originally purchased them for working around the property to ‘upscale’ my image. I would always wear my oldest worn out clothes, and quite frankly looked like a homeless squatter at times.

At $22 a pair, how could I go wrong.

I am like several other people and a fan of Duluth. But I prefer the dry on the fly version of their pants. Comfortable even in a Georgia Summer.

That's a good find, thanks for that! They have loads of my favorites in factory seconds. I'm going to make an order tonight.
