Friday 11/11/11 at 11:11 the ribbon will be cut in front of 111 South 8th street La Port Texas to celebrate the grand opening of La Porte Tool Box. Coffee and cookies to follow.
Life for the original building started out in the 50' as an James' Ice House, a place that served only ice in cups and beer wrapped in paper, often called a diaper. Children would play shuffle board, pool and the juke box while the parents sat in the cool of a chicken wire covered fan a it danced it's way across the floor.Hard drinks were prohibited unless a n expensive license was purchased.
After 40 years it was a resale shop that later converted to al new tools. The front of the building resembles a tool box, complete with latches and side handles. We have researched the web and can not find a larger tool box and aer assuming the title until shown otherwise.
Drop by for a free prize to all newcomers, usually a bamboo back scratcher or 3 piece chicken dinner to go ( 3 pieces of corn in a plastic bag, a dinner for your chicken).
