This recently acquired 1 hp monster is the oldest Baldor on earth! Unless of course, someone in this jungle posts a pic of one that is older.

Honestly though, I know next to nothing about it. Not really even sure if it was intended to be a buffer. I have yet to plug it in. I hope it is 1400 rpm. Can’t quite make out the tag.

But the bonus is the cast iron stand it’s on. General XRay Corporation. Looks early 20th to me.

I can't help you but maybe you compare research notes with @calandrod ?

Thank U Mongo for that link. That machine is very similar. It’s not quite the same as mine, as It’s a 1/2 hp, though it looks to be the same year/line. Before posting, I went over to Vintage Machinery and didn’t find much… well, I just went back and found this one:

It’s older than mine, as it has oilers. And what do you know? I’m the one who posted it!

Well, not great news. I got 40% off asking yesterday. I should have got 50% off. The left shaft is bent by as much as 1/8”. Worst case, I end up with a single side buffer. Then there’s bad news/good news. In order to attach the buffer to the top, they drilled several holes through the actual base of buffer; the good news being, no stray holes in that awesome stand:

Not sure if I want to tackle this job. The inside of the drawers are the worse part. Maybe start there, then decide where to go…

Still a nice find. The stand is awesome.
I always try to look for the positive, if not very practical. Put a oscillating sanding disk on the bent end.
