My five year old 17mm and 19mm Snap On impact sockets, both standard and deep, are so worn they drop off the gun or fling off - I no longer have a local Snap On franchisee, do Snap On consider worn out impacts an exchange item?

The tool truck is usually much easier. I just hand them the defective tool, and he hands me a new one right there if it's in stock. Impact sockets should be on hand.

Are there any auto shops or dealers at all in your area? If so, they are probably on the tool truck route. Stop by and see what days he stops.

There was a time a few years ago that we did not have a route guy. I had a couple of tools that needed replacing. I sent an e-mail to Snap On with a picture and they sent me replacement tools. Told me to just keep the old ones and throw them away. Could not ask for better service :)

It may also be that your impact anvil retaining ring has gotten worn, or the rubber ring behind the metal ring is worn out. Then when you have sockets that are used a lot they will come off easily. It can be a combination of both being worn.

Snap on ***** you should have bought Harbor Freight or any Chicom alternative.

.or just call them and get it exchanged.

Sorry for drama I actually prefer Snapon over everything else.

Thanks, I didn’t know whether as they aren’t actually physically broken they wouldn’t swap them. The anvil is fine, all the other sockets are held secure, I was erecting steelwork last weekend and I gave up with the Snap On impacts and grabbed a set of cheap Chinese ones as I was constantly loosing the Snap On ones.
