I may be that next idiot. Have a 36k Mr Cool diy unit on order from Ingrahms in Ky.

The Mr Cool Advantage series is designed for an hvac professional to instal and requires he evacuate and charge the system.($1500 system cost)

The more expensive DIY series comes with a 25ft pre charged line set attached to the inside unit. You run the line set through the wall and connect to the exterior heat pump with quick connects. ($2100 system cost)

The DIY unit carries a 7 yr compressor warranty but the advantage series that requires professional install only carries a 1 yr ? We are way out in the sticks and all professionals want to charge us their hourly as drive time which makes everything crazy expensive and lends itself to doing everything yourself.

My building is a 30x40 addition to a large 1950 block building that is new construction. The addition is a pole building with 6 inch walls and we are in the process of insulating it with R19 bats.
The ceiling is 2x6's purlins on edge with the mylar faced bubble wrap under the metal roof. Also being insulated with r19 batts and then a metal ceiling over that. Hoping that's enough insulation. Have three insulated roll up panel doors 9 x 9.6 on order r value around 11. Space has 7 36x48 vinyl windows in addition to the windows in the garage doors. Hoping 3 tons is sufficient. We've already had days in the 90's with high humidity here in central Virginia this month.

We are a small father son business that specialize in installing Cummins R2.8 engines in Land Rovers now discontinued Defender model.
This 30x40 space is our primary workspace with the older barn being vehicle storage so this space will be where we work 60+ hrs a week. We have a 20ft propane tube type radiant heater for winter when temps drop below where the heat pump will be useful.
Plan is to install the system and then order the line set covers. Plan is for heat pump unit to be bracket mounted on foundation. Hoping a 12 inch roof soffit overhang is enough to keep the unit clear of roof edge fall.

I'm a past idiot! My job looks a wee bit better than that:ROFLMAO: That is what I would expect from the AC advertisers in my area. There are good ones, but hard to find.
