Worst tool/bit/socket storage trays ever...

This tray is infuriating to deal with. You can't just press then down into place. So annoying to slide the bit, especially the long ones.

I threw away the box and put everything in a Ziplock bag. Then I took the box out of the trash and smashed it with my hammer. So satisfying!

I actually kinda like those boxes. Keeps everything together, I can see what’s missing and I can chuck em’ in the tool box and they clear my narrowest drawers.

I have a Ryobi bitset that is kind of like that, only they tilt up so it's easier to slide in and out of.

It certainly leaves you wondering who thought that up. Every single time I use it, I just look at it and get confused. Just doesn't make sense.

If they would just snap in and out it would be so convenient.

I don't like those Dewalt bit cases either. Milwaukee ones are a bit better for me but I still don't like em, kind of tight. Maybe the get better overtime.

I've been using these. I prefer bits loose in the compartments, much quicker for me to grab what I need. I wish Milwaukee made something similar. Feels weird pulling one of these out my bag now that all my tools are red but whatever. I don't care.

After some of the bits got used up or lost I repurposed that case by removing all the black bit holders. Makes a nice case for storing something else that could use a little protection.

So, that is the older style of bit holder for the toughcases, and they are awful.

However, don’t chuck the yellow box. You can add 3d printed bit holders that are much nicer. The dovetail cutouts around the edges allow for you to swap out whatever you want.

The new toughcases have FAR improved bit holders.

Ziplock bag eh? Wouldn't have been easier just to use the yellow box without the black removable bit holders?

All the ones that come with those kits are useless IMO. I've used these for years now, and so did everyone else on our construction crew where driving all different size screws was the norm for most construction. Most drill bit up to around 7/16 will fit in them too. Compact, can take a lot of abuse and won't accidentally open. They come in 2 sizes.

Just like most blow molded cases that come with tools, think of these cases like a corn husk or orange peel; a disposable protective covering to prevent shipping damage.

satisfied by smashing a plastic box? that's odd.........

not the best bitholding parts inside but the boxes are handy, nicely sized and durable. things also stay puy in them while transported and stay in place when dropped.

of course the question needs to be asked? if you don't know what a magnetic nut drivert/setter is. why would you need bit boxes anyway?

after I got the hang of it ,I kinda like it.
I can throw the case around and not open it up to a pile of bits in one corner.
I do agree that it would have been better to have the rows tilt up.

I know what you mean. I made one (after I smashed mine too) out of a 1/4 drive socket box. Works like a charm.

I hate the DeWalt case too. Finally threw it in my donate pile. Looks like it was designed by someone who never tried to use it in the real world.
