Would it be worth a 2 hr round trip for this compressor?

Looks like a single stage and that's not a 6hp motor. I like how they left that blank on the name plate. This is one of those deals where they claim i"it makes"..... anyhow based upon the load it calcs out to ~5HP which is fine. For that price I'd make the drive.

That is just your typical Sanborn single-stage air compressor. Sold under just about every brand out there. It's a good little pump IMO if that fits your CFM & budget.

Those 15A motors = ~3 "real" horse power...

Tank would have a metal tag giving it's date of manufacture on there and other relevant required info.

I would make the drive for that... Probably just talk them down to an even $250 (or less) to cover your gas money.

You can leave it on those blocks of wood, and replace the crummy petcock on the bottom with a 90 and a short pipe and a ball-valve for easier draining.

Last year I bought a brand new Sanborn at Menard's for less than $400 (I think around $360) when they had an 11% sale. It replaced my 'hole in the tank' Sanborn that I've had since 1974. It's a good machine for a single stage. My new one is practically identical.

That is a 3hp motor, single stage pump. Is it worth the drive? $235 + $mileage + $time + used. As said above new is ~$400 + guarantee. I would go with new.

As stated, that's your standard 11.5ish CFM 3hp compressor.

Just search the big stores and see what they sell for, then factor in age and abuse.

2 hour round trip? That's nothing. I drive 7 hours every weekend roundtrip to our lake house and don't think twice about it. I drive 2 hours round trip to go to Costco. If you think it's a decent compressor, what are you waiting for?

Do the terms include the 10% "buyer's ripoff" and the 4% credit card fee? Also have to factor that in.

Thanks to all for the advice. As I suspected it is just the same rebadged air compressor and nothing special.

I value my time very very much because I have a job, family, and kids. I only drive if I absolutely have to.

I will be passing on this deal. I thought maybe the compressor was something special but it was not.
