Would this be a good light fixture?

A local Kijiji seller (Canada's Craigslist) is selling these LED light fixtures for $20 CAD a piece. They were used commercially as temporary lighting according the seller.

I am thinking of putting 8 (4 rows of 2) of them in my 18x22 garage with 10ft ceilings. What do you think?

Thanks in advance

EATON 8SLSTP8040DD-UNV

Specs:
8 ft Lensed LED Strip
Dimmable
4000k
8176 Lumens
71 Watts
115 lm/W

Nothing wrong with that fixture, but you do need to figure out how many are needed to provide the amount of light you want.

Good fixture, especially at that price. Skeptical about the story, though.
4 would be plenty, 6 would be really bright.
Good luck,

Thanks for the re-assurance on the quality. Figuring out how many is the hard part. I have much to learn in that regard.

I agree the story does seem skeptical, but a few things do point to it be legit. From the photos I can see that they were hung from chains in a very "temporary" manor. They are also located in a large office building. So not impossible, but I too remain skeptical.

Do you really think only 4-6 fixtures are required? I was going to buy 10 regardless at that price and planned on using 8. Use the rest for something else. They are also dimmable, so don't have to use them at full blast all the time.

I figured I would need 9-12 of the "the best light fixture ever" to get a bright work space. I just divided the total lumens of that setup with the lumens of this fixture. I know its not the most precise way to calculate. But I thought it would put me in the ball park.

LUMEGEN LG-4T8-22WBB-SM50K = 2640 Lumens per bulb x 24 = 63360 lumens

63360 / 8176 (This fixture) = 7.77 or 8

Then again maybe 12 of the "best best light fixture ever" is too much?

I looked through a lot of the layouts and tired to find one similar to mine, didnt have much luck. Don't really have the time or know how to use the software for layouts.

Thanks for your input!

$90 US being sold for $20 CN sounds pretty fishy to me too. Getting past that, 4 rows of 2 butted end-to-end yields 95fc at 30" work plane.

Thanks for the quick calculation, that is what I was going for. I really appreciate the reassurance that I was at least in the ballpark with my "calculation."

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply.

I'm going to check them out in a day or two. I will report back.

You were all right, turned out it was too good to be true.

When I contacted the seller to pick them up he changed the pick up day on me a couple of times.

Then today I was told that "The project manager has changed his mind and decided not to sell the lights." Maybe someone figured out how much these lights are worth.

Typical Kijiji transaction.

Oh well, I will continue my search for lights.

Thank you all for your input.
