Would this be checkerboard overkill or allright?

Thinking of doing race-deck vs. VCT in my garage so I don't have to do any floor prep and I can potentially take it with me. I was going to do a light grey speckled VCT, but it appears Costco only sells charcoal or black/white checkerboard.

The thing is... here's my walls...

Was thinking that if I grouped the tiles in 4s to create 2' checkers it may flow w/ the walls and work. But part of me things it may become a visual mess and be too much.

I assume Racedeck makes a nice light gray, but I'm not sure I want to pay racedeck prices. Even w/ the costco prices it'll be nearly $1200 for my 2 car garage.

I never looked at the MotoFloor since I didn't want black and white. From what I remember reading on here, it is still better quality than most plastic tiles, but it is not quite as good as the regular RaceDeck. MotoFloor is made by RaceDeck though. I don't want to post the pricing they gave me since I am not sure how much lower it was since I was buying over 2500 sq ft of it. However, just call Jorgen or Jenn at RaceDeck, tell them you are a Garage Journal member and ask for a quote, you probably will be pleasantly suprised.

If you go with the RaceDeck, they have a bunch of colors to choose from. Personally I like the single tile checker pattern in 2 car or smaller garages, in spaces bigger than that I think it looks too busy. The other thing is the tiles come packed in 2 tile x 2 tile sections snapped together, so doing the larger checker saves the time/effort to snap them apart.

I have 2 areas in my shop that just have 1 solid color instead of the checkerboard, it looks much nicer than I thought it would. It also looks good in solid alloy (mine is graphite). I wish I had better pictures of the area, but here is the best that I have:

i think it would look fine, maybe run the most outer edge red all the way around to break the walls
