Would this make the start of a good work table?

I need a workbench/welding table for my garage. I presently do not have a welder, just a cutting torch. I'm looking for opinions on using a HF scaffold.

I could replace the plywood top with a steel plate and cut the four posts down to the top of the plate. The table would be portable. If extra sturdiness is needed, I could temporarily clamp/bolt it to the concrete wall in my garage. What do you experts think?

It seems like it could work out alright. But like The Cobbler said, a bit expensive for what you want to do. You may be able to find a used one on Craigslist for a much better price.

This is one of my portable welding/cutting/grinding benches. This was trash picked for free and I "repurposed" it.

50 bucks for the 1/4" steel top and 8 dollars for the HF furniture dolly i used for the casters. And TONS of tool storage.
Look around, cabinets like this are all over, for next to nothing.

I agree with the others too much money to spend & then cut it up to make a bench out of. Better of buying your self the welder then build a bench with metal from the scrap yard.

I've used those scaffolds, and they "wiggle" a LOT....so a guy would have to "stiffen" it up a bit. That and the cost would make it seem better to build one out of angle iron if you ask me.
