Yet another thread killed by photo hosting sites.

I've paid their prices for years... twice. And Twice Bitten, Thrice Shy...

First it was Webshots, now Photobucket.

Photo hosting sites ruining threads... Stick a fork in me, I am done.

Damn, someone put some time in that. I've always thought that it had to be protected but since it in basements unprotected so I don't know.

It depends on the location. You'll see that here in New Brunswick, Canada all the time and I'm assuming it's code legal based on the fact nearly every residential panel I've seen was installed this way. I'm assuming that it's probably not legal in most states.

If it is not to code it should be, much nicer than the mess at my panel. :)

As long as those Romex connectors are listed for two wires I don't see a problem. I wish mine was that neat. That looks to be at least a 40 space breaker, you got every switch and every three outlets on their own breaker? Must have been some serious cost on wire, never mind afci breakers.

Some areas enforce protecting the wiring up to the eight foot level, so it would not fly in that case, nice & neat but ***** they used Zinsco II panels, (BR).

That pic has made the rounds & based on the red & blue NM cable, would guess it's Canadian.

That's a **** load of runs out of the box. If its Canadian, its not from the west coast. I've seem white, yellow, orange and red cable but not blue. You can buy all the same cable in white, so colour isn't any big thing. Something like red and blue pex. Most commercial guys just use white... Nice layout, but the LB makes me wonder why they didn't just come straight in the bottom for a much neater look and one less bend. I'd like to see the inside of the panel....

Maybe for space.?

I would also say that while they did a nice job, they probably didn't know what they are doing and perhaps didn't realize you could come straight up into the bottom of the box.

Although, whoever did it would make an excellent radiator floor pipe loop designer.

Nope, the wire run between the two outlets on the lower right isn't tacked down.
Other then that I don't see an issue other then the installer needing some help with their OCD, I've got just as long a runs in my basement and recently passed code with no issue.

I'm wondering why they didn't just use a double box there for 2 outlets, makes no sense

As I've said before, it looks like a whole bunch of wasted time. For a clean look, recess the panel, or fir out the wall above to conceal the wiring.

The Art of Electrical Wiring.

It would be a simple task to frame in the area with the exposed cables and make a removable hardboard cover that fits around the panels.. It would make a access for future alterations easier than busting open a sheetrock wall...

The LB under that panel cannot be covered anyway, so building a wall over the whole thing is out of the question..

Sure agree with the goof use of separate boxes for those outlets..

It's a fair assumption that the lower right two outlets and the small brown wire were not added by the same fella that did the rest of the wiring.

I am impressed by what appears to be a very neat job. The picture does not, in itself, provide enough detail for me to make an opinion.

The general appearance of the job reminds me of Marine ( shipboard) electrical work.

I've seen blue over here on the East Coast, both light blue and dark blue 14/2. It's been around for a long time, before AFCI breakers were a thing even.

The only one that kind of matters is red 12/2 heater wire since the individual conductors are red and black since it's for 220v. You can use electrical tape to identify the white wire as hot, but if you don't have to why bother?

My only issue is the potential sagging of the drywall in the corner. That is long run with what doesn't look like any joists since the cables don't look bent.
