in my newly built 24x24 garage i have the walls insulated with osb board on the interior ...my ceiling is open.. but i have my lights mounted on my trusses. it has metal for the roof. how could i insulate the ceiling without closing in where my lights are which would be 8 foot from floor since i have 8 ft walls. how could i and what would i need to use to insulate up along the metal roof? thanks

I'd re-position the lights so they are mounted on the underside of the trusses. You could then board the topside of the trusses and lay fibreglass insulation on the boards.

i have looked at how i would go about capping off ceiling and i think i would rather put the insulation along the roof line, dont mind heating the peak.....with this being a small garage 24x24 with 8 foot walls, there really isnt much space in the peak.....so how could i insulate along the metal roof?

That's what I'd do. Moving the lights isn't that hard, and getting the insulation right the first time will save your sanity over the long haul.

with the lights being on the underside of the trusses and i cap off about the trusses, i think i would run into problems fitting the osb boards where my trusses are braced from the highest point.

You may have to trim the boards to suit the bracing but it shouldn't be too much effort. Include a trap door for access and storage.

You could sandwich the trusses between boards and insulate the cavities. The top boards will then become the floor of the storage attic. This is what I intend to do when I build my garage.
