Hey folks, currently living in Germany and will be heading back soon (shipping of House hold goods will be on the Gov's dime) when I ran across this ad for a Hazet work wagon with some tools for 659 Euros but after taking out VAT it comes out to about 600 USD.

Good deal for sure but as much as I like quality tools I dont want to impulse buy on something I might not need. I already got a used Hazet assistant and a craftsman rollaway with toolbox on top.

Just want to know if this is a "don't pass up deal!" with some future re-sale value if I decide I get buyers remorse when I hit the States. Thanks.

(tried inserting image but didnt work, here's the ad located at my just made Flickr account:

Hey!

The Assistent 177 with 6 drawers costs currently (in Germany, without tax) 459,-€.

Same with 7 drawers 509,-€.

The rest (to small to identity on my mobile) should normally be around 200,-€/250,-€.

And pay attention about the delivery time! 😉

Cheers,
Philipp

Thanks, figured it was an okay deal, delivery time is around 3 days, the guy said. Bist du Deutsch?

Just wondering what online sites you use in Germany for any good German tools deals? (mac intosh)

Heading back soon? To where?

I think that would be an awesome item to have anywhere that would help you recall your time in Germany.

If you have the money to spend and like the box, why not. Although I would rather spend the money on a few assistents as they are different than just another tool box with drawers which are plenty common in the states. If you sell you will be targeting someone that fancies the Hazet name.

That set was on sale last year for that price, so it's a "leftover". It is the smallest Hazet cart with a relatively cheap tool set. Kind of all sale items in one kit. Having said that the price is great as you won't get that amount of Hazet tools for that price. PM me if you need a deal.

Honestly I'd skip it. I like Hazet but you can search US craigslist sites and find some decent buys.

This was posted today..in my area

Zkling makes a very valid point. I to would get an assistent or two. If you were to sell here in the states you could potentially regain most of your money back as those types of "carts" are harder to come by than a box with drawers.

Thanks all for your feedback. As much as I appreciate the Hazet name I think it's reaching a ludicrous price point status to what you are comparing it to. Using some of their tools compared to hundreds of dollar cheaper stuff, I just don't see the difference at times. Might get some used assistents though.

You guys in the states have so many toolbox offerings to choose from that it doesn't make any sense to go after an European box.

I wouldn't buy that.I've used some of those style boxes and I really prefer American style boxes and i'd rather get a Craftsman or similar 26 top and bottom with bearings.

Except for special ones like the assistant

Exactly.

How is this really that different than a craftsman style (although I would venture to guess this is a bit better built) ~26" bottom box. Both are of the traditional cabinet with drawers build style, and this does have ball bearing drawers. That was my initial point, why spend the time, effort and money on something that isn't drasticaly different unless you just love the hazet name.
