175 pieces of Snap-on black handle tools, this set is huge. I couldn't imagine having all of them.

How do I break this to Santa Claus (aka the wife) this is what I want for Christmas. :D :D

Wood......Just Do It.......I was doing some math, even if each piece was $10 per say, that's $1750............Some cost than others mind you...........It is a great deal if you think about it, most of the tools look to have minimal use. It almost rivals GJ Dyno Dales collection.

Just a big pill to swallow all at one time. I'd say I have spent more than $1700 on screwdrivers and ratcheting screwdrivers for sure!!!!!!!!!

I was going to post a snide comment, but 175 / $2100 = $12 per tool. $12 per screwdriver ain't that bad at all. Wonder what it'll actually sell for.

3000/175 is ~$17. Not looking like such a great deal at this point since it will surely cross $3000.

It's screwdrivers, picks and pry bars, folks. That's it.

I'd say that guess might be incorrect. It very well could be a resale opportunity with some FREE tools left over to keep.

Hmm, tough choice. Free HF screw driver vs free so driver/prybar/pick?

It would take a bit of research to figure out where the break even point is (and still able to keep free tools) but is theoretically possible.

See above post...

My only comment is what the hell are those bidders smoking?

(WoodiE55, your wife would never forgive you if you ended up winning that lot of Snap-On)

I've got more screwdrivers, picks, and pry bars than that set has, and most of them were given to me, the rest I bought...

Just remember that this is not necessarily a good deal. I would've been done at about 300 bucks.

A screwdriver is a pry bar, even if it's a Snap-On.

complete madness - $3450 and not even close to the end. Tool polishing gone mad - they are screwdrivers.

No wonder the SO truck guy looked relieved when I said "no problem" when the handles on two of the eight black hard handled (1970s style) screwdrivers split when he was pressing in the new and he could not match them. I ended up with an orange handled 8 inch flat blade made up of a new blade and new handle from the draw and a new style screwdriver for the 4inch blade one.

Way too much. I've sold a few Snap on screwdrivers on Ebay and they average $8 to $12.
One was a blue stubby that went for $10.

$20 average for what amounts to mostly screwdrivers has got to be nothing more than an ego match between bidders.

All the bids over $2k are a couple of zero feedback new ebayers, could be real people, could be total baloney.

I LIKE the black handles, but I've never paid more than $10 for one, and don't expect to. Outside my core most used half dozen screwdrivers I really don't need anything special.

Used SO screwdrivers at $28+ a pop? Ebay madness. This is above full retail at this point, for used items right?

It's gotta be shilled or whatever that fancy ebay term is for bumping up the bids.........All of the bidders after $2100 have 0 feedback!

$5500 NOW

Why do these things get taken seriously?

Shill bidding to begin with, then fake users after that. All new usernames with no feedback. What do people not get about that?

It's like the photoshopped pictures of the houses with the steep driveways that pop up here from time to time. There is a 3 page thread about it until someone comes along and shows the Google Street View and puts it to bed. This stuff happens hundreds of times every day on ebay.

i did not see the black handle valve core remover tool or a black handle air chuck.

$5600 is too much.

i might be a buyer at $10 per screwdriver but even then i don't like black so i honestly couldn't pay any more then that per piece

Most auctions I follow don't get shilled/bid up like this one.

So assuming that the winner with 0 fb doesn't pay, what happens? Think this will go 2nd offer or just relist with a "0 feedback bids will be canceled" note?

The zero feedback people aren't really going to pay that. This happens all the time. If (and that's a big if) the person who bid $2100 isn't a shill, the seller will contact him or her and offer it. This goes on all the time with big dollar items like tool boxes or if there was a single lot of 20 SO ratchets, for example.

This is the reason that I kick any brand new members or people with 1 or 2 feedback off my auctions. It is nothing personal at all, but I have been burned before.

why would they bid if they are not going to pay?

Do they have similar items and want to make it look s like they are more valuable than they are so they can sell them for a premium?

I can see your reasoning on this...but at the same time, what if you lost a truly earnest buyer? I have very little feedback on ebay b/c I rarely purchase from there...I think I've only ever purchased 2 things but have bid on countless more before losing the auction. So b/c I have little to no feedback/buying experience I'd get booted from your auction...? :headscrat

Shill, bidder in cahoots with the seller driving up the price.

Scammer, bidder not in cahoots with the seller that will offer to pay by some means that can be faked, bank check, money order, at the time of pickup by their "delivery" service.

Delinquent, non adult with access to account having some fun.

If this happens all the time, I must just bid on obscure stuff. I feel somewhat sheltered, and I've used ebay on and off since the 90's! :dunno:

Most ebay things I bid on and win have at most 3 bidders. Usually one person sitting on the item and maybe a couple of last minute snipers.

I've won plenty of auctions and watched a ton more that go higher than I'm willing to pay, but this is the first one I've seen with what seems to be obviously shill/fake bidding.

Well, learn something new every day. Cheap entertainment if nothing else.

I have used e-bay quite a few times as buyer and seller. With all the forum sites interconnecting people all over the world IMO has really pushed the shill bidding over the top. Its too easy to hook up with someone and ask them to "help you out" on a sale. A few years ago I tried buying a welding helment and I had bid on numerous ones that sold for more than the "Buy it Now Price" Why would someone else bid on a item there is 25 Buy it Now auctions other than a shill bidder?
