Nice houses I mean garages. I have a hobby. I like talking cars apart and putting them back together--for fun. If I win the lotto tonight, it would allow me to get my parts faster. How much fun would it be if I paid someone to put the parts together for me?

I hope to be in that position in the future.

Those are all about what money bought... not what the owners built

...... Maybe they're too busy working at whatever job it is they have that makes it possible to own those places.....

I think Stuart has hit the nail on the head. Most people who are earning the kind of money to afford those places are working insane hours.

whats it matter if they don't work on them? is everything you want and own in life something you built and maintained on your own? not everyone has the want, knowledge or desire to build something from scratch but that don't mean that they can't own one. theres no reason to look down on them for being in a position to be able to purchase the item they want.

I agree 100%. We all have our "things" that give us pleasure. For some it is tweaking under the hood, for others, it is doing restorations, and for others it is having a place to relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor. If those garages work for those guys, then that's great. While there are a number in that thread that I'd love to have, I'd personally go for something in between, but that's my preference.

And that's your "thing". For some, their "thing" is being able to walk into the garage and admire their vehicles. The spaces they've built make that that much more enjoyable to them.
