Seems weird to see all those tools in glass cases. I wonder how many counter tops get broken when a customer drops a tool.

Kinda sad that their import store are better stocked with US tools than domestic stores.

They are more reserved. A lot of Americans are loud and pushy. It's hard to have a conversation with them, because you usually have to interrupt them to get a point in because they keep jabbering on. :eyecrazy:

That store would ****, because my fat *** wouldn't fit down most of the isles! I can see it now, me in there bending over to check something out and knocking over half of the store. And where are the Pittsburgh Tools. They must keep the in the special by appointment only VIP back room, so that the good stuff doesn't just walk off.:lol:

Having the counter help bowing to me would make me slightly uncomfortable, though...

That store is way too clean. If I'm not dirty when I leave a tool store, I don't feel like I spent any quality time there. :lol:

If garagejournal were a town and this store was in it, you're right. Otherwise, I highly doubt it. The US had stores with top tier tools in them, but no one cared and now those stores have Chinese **** in them.

That is impressive with the amount of top quality brands they have there.

I have a used tool store with a pretty good inventory,,,,,,,,,but it certainly doesn't compare.

Yes, I think we would all go broke if it was around the corner from us. There in lies the problem for a store like that in the states. Like I said, I have a used tool store with a substantial inventory of truck brand tools. USA mechanics are used to the truck guys showing up on their doorstep and hopefully giving good service. While I have a good clientele, especially with truck and equipment mechanics, I can't get the local car guys to come in. They don't seem to mind paying for the service. Now I don't market my business at all as it is a secondary business and I know if I put effort into it, I could increase sales quickly, but I am baffled as guys won't drive a mile to buy tools, when I have regulars who drive an hour to see me. I know my prices are right (50% of retail), and my selection is good though I won't have the latest and greatest and don't mess with scanners.

Oh well, when the main business is sold and we relocate into another state and semi retire, the tool business will do just fine cause then I can employ marketing and get more folks coming thru the door.

That place is awesome :eek::drool:, I would probably make excuses to go to window shop and fondle the expensive tools.

Actually I was most impressed with their impact, torque wrench and tire gauge testers/calibration machines. Those would be nice to have. :drool:

:+1: I can't really imagine this type of place surviving in the US. Or it may survive in a very large city like NYC, where it would appeal to the yuppie that wants to install a new stereo or any other thing that would not involve getting grease smeared on their hands. :spit:

However they would probably be closed on saturday because most patrons would be at garage sales and the like :lol_hitti

I think 7800 yen marked on what appears to be a 3/8 Snapon F80 is about $80. So prices aren't too bad, wonder if that is an exchange rate thing. I would have expected prices to be much higher..

The Japanese can be impressive with their attention to detail, nice store!

I think it would fail miserably. All people here care about is cheap. At least to the extent that a whole store wouldn't survive. Those with money still buy cheap ****

Nice! I think it is only a matter of time before stores like that open up in the USA and the tool truck companies decide to open up storefronts or sell through stores. I know it will take some major re-thinking but I can only hope. The closest thing in my area is Performance Tool, Production Tool and Harbor Freight but all three of these stores focus too much on lower quality imported tools.

Yeah that wouldn't be good. Id spend way to much money. It would be nice to have a store local that just had all of those brands available.

I have a production tool near me. That place is great. Williams and Wright on display. This is now my tool store of choice. When I go to Pontiac Michigan for work I ALWAYS stop at performance tool. That place is just plain awesome. Great brands at decent prices. Great selection of Klein,Channellockand Knipex and many more. If anyone ever goes to the Pontiac area check out performance tool.
