Wrench help with possible dumb question

So I picked out this rusty wrench in a pile at the flea market for a $1.
I bought it for the restoration challenge just to see what I could do with it.
So I soaked it in Evaporust for 24 hours then took it to a wire wheel.
I don't see any kind of markings on it. Not even the wrench opening sizes.

I planned of taking it to a Flap disc or belt sander to smooth it out.

Then I started thinking.
Insert possible dumb question. (I'm only about 5 months into this vintage tool collecting and restoration.)

Is the roughness of the wrench from all the rust eating at it?
or is this possible an old cast made wrench?
Or even Homemade?

No doubt in my mind that the surface was destroyed by rust, lotsa rust.

I would not have even wanted to touch that, even with the fancy bend, even if factory bent.

I have enough higher priority clean up jobs ahead of me.

That looks like a Bridgeport wrench that was hand-bent and I think you are correct about the rough surface having been caused by rust pitting.

oh yeah....
sure looks like a Bridgeport, doesn't it?
that took some work makin' it go around that curve like that.

Hmm, never even occurred to me that it might be hand bent. But now I look at the curve. It is somewhat fatter on the inside and thinner on the outside of the curve. Pretty impressive that it remained so flat still.

Since it doesn't seem like its some rare really old wrench. Then I guess I will continue with my original plan.
Like I said. I bought it for the challenge to see what I can do with it. We'll see. It might just end up in the trash. haha

No don't trash it. You may need to tighten something around the corner. It has a history.
