Wrench holders

I bought these handy wrench holders well over 40 years ago from one of the truck vendors. Snap-on wrenches on the left (OK, the ¼ inch is a craftsman… I lost that Snap-on), and Mac on the right.

I can’t find ANYTHING comparable. Over the years I have acquired many more wrenches, and need to organize some in my new box.

I don’t like the Ernst. They are way too tall (see comparison pic below), and I want my wrenches in the shallow drawers, which will work easily if I can find some more of these rails. MTS just has sets that can be used in a drawer or mounted. I want some with double stick tape (these have been in place with DST since the early 70’s without incident.

I don’t want metal. I want plastic.

This is a different type of Ernst wrench rail, which fits shallow drawers. The downside is that they hold the wrench less vertical than the ones you have. I use them and like them.

Snap on has them. Exactly...it is what I use in my box at work and at home..

I have some that my Mac dealer sells that are shallow and adjustable, similar design. They are very nice too because they have a handle on them also.

Actually, that building is now a sporting goods store.

I quit working on cars professionally in 1987, so no regular access to a Snap on truck. I guess I could ask around at some of the shops in town to see when the Snap-on guy normally stops by.

I saw the HF ones, but there is no flexibility.

Snap on offers a larger size for bigger wrenches (KRA22A) but, I've never felt the need for it.

I believe the current color is black.

To me, All other wrench rails ****!!! Kobalt, Ernst, too tall, too thin, sloppy angles.
You might as well lay your wrench flat in the drawer with the Ernst low profile holder. I don't use wrench racks as I wheel a cart to my work.

Why someone else can't make the same rail as good is beyond me. The current ones hail from China so, it isn't like Snap on is making them

That is exactly what I wanted.
Now.... not to be greedy, but seeing that these are "non-branded" and made in China, I am sure they are available elsewhere for about 1/2 that price.

I am going to go ahead and order from Snap-on. Can't seem to find them anywhere else.
Just would be nice for reference.

The ones at Lowe's are better than the Ernst, but not the same as the Snap-on. The Snap-on is uniform in size front to back. Everyone else seems to graduate the size, which might work if they knew exactly how many wrenches I have and how I want to organize them. The simple design is the best for most situations, although $16.50 is ridiculous for a pair. Oh well, I bought some and am buying some more so that I can arrange my tools the way I want. There is a reason they have been selling these for 40 plus years. They are not "new and improved". They just work.

Btw, I did buy one pair of the set for larger wrenches. I decided to keep everything from 15/16 in one of the really shallow drawers on the new 26" tool box. Here are pics. As you can see, I was able to get all the Snap-on and Mac, from 1/4 to 15/16, along with a set of Snap-on flare nut wrenches (with one Bonney) a set of Snap-on stubbies, 5/16 to 3/4, and a little package of midget wrenches all in one shallow drawer. I have larger wrenches that will go in the deeper drawer below.

So how tall does your largest wrench in that drawers stand? In the organizer. Im curious how it'd fit in a box with 2.25 inch drawers.

Tallest wrench in there is the Snap-on 15/16. I clears by about an 1/8 inch. I was hoping to get the one inch S/O in there, but would have had to modify the holder. At some point, bigger wrenches are just going to have to go in a deeper drawer.
The drawer below that is, I believe classified as a 2.5 inch, and my Williams 1.25 inch combo clears with room to spare. I BELIEVE but don't have the wrench her to check, that the 1-5/16 will clear fine in that 2.5 inch drawer. I will take some pics and post.
