Been helping my wife’s uncle clean out the house they lived in for 22 years. 4 generations lived there for awhile and some of my wife’s grandparents stuff was still there. One item of interest was this hex drive socket kit. The only markings I saw was the number 105 on the ratchet handle. The tray slides one way to hold the sockets and the other way to release them.

Thanks for the reply. I se that had the sockets in the wrong way that will probably help, the tray binds when you try to slide it. I wonder if the original ratchet was lost or they made it for someone else.

It's probably original, sk made some unmarked stuff for resale by other companies. The fulton sets were red and unmarked other than a decal which is frequently worn away.

Yup there it is! You will notice the part number on ratchet is shortened to 105 on daddyopoppys, which I think is how the generic version was stamped.

I just refer to them as a plug or a hex adapter. One of mine is simply marked 105 and the other has S-K markings. In the early days S-K was a supplier for many brands including independents which accounts for the lack of manufacturers markings. 3898A2D2-02CF-44CB-9413-AA2E54816DF4.jpeg

Here's my little orphan odds and ends pile. None of the three (3) 1/2-inch hex drive plugs on the right there are branded, and I don't know if any of them are an exact match for early SK production. In fact, my hunch is probably Duro/Indestro or Hinsdale on these, because the blade on the screwdriver bit end is more pronounced than it is on SK. (If it didn't come up before upthread, SK wasn't the only mfgr making early 1/2-in hex drive tools in this kit style). But if you want one of them, just PM me. I'm going to assume you have better options for turning sockets, but if your goal is to put the kit back to work, I'm pretty sure they are interchangeable, and one of these will function in your ratchet. If your goal is to complete and re-condition your grandfather's set - a worthy project regardless of how common these kits are, it will definitely pass the eyeball test. Nobody but you will know the difference.
