Not sure if I've ever posted these pics of my wrenches. Racks are all ernst, most are cut/modified to fit my specific sets here. I kept the standard colors with red for SAE and black foe metric for easy identification. I have all the wrenches to fill in the holes. They were just in use when I took the pictures.

This look nice and organized but,

I prefer my neat tidy drawers. :D

Does anyone hang their wrenches? I'm dying to build a peg rail for each side of my roll around to get my wrenches out of my box to make room for other stuff. It just seems God put box ends on those wrenches beacuse they were meant to hang!:rocker:

I hang mine on my peg board. My instinct keeps making me want to put them in my box but they're so damn convenient hanging there :dunno:

I've got a HF roll around that I use for all my primary tools that I use every day. I have my ratchet wrenches on a magnetic holder on each side (which I don't like). But all my no ratchet wrenches are in a drawer. I want to put them all on the outside. I used to keep some tools on a peg board, but didn't like the idea of having to walk back and forth to get wrenches but every thing else was right next to me. I want to make a rack with pegs that will hold 2-3 wrenches per peg. With The 19" deep cabinet. I should be able to hang 1/4"-1 1/8" And metric I should get from 6mm-20mm. Anything bigger will just go into my "specialty tool cabinet".

Not to veer too far off this road, I have found that I can do just about any job with just the tools that will fit in my HF 5 drawer. Seeing all these many different types of wrenches and extensive collections of 4 or more of the same size make me ask why? You will never use more than two wrenches at the same time so why have 4 in the same tool box? I've got 4 of a lot of stuff but they live in different locations for different types of work.

Cut down the craftsman wrench holders and I was able to fit all my wrenches in one drawer.

I have no need for a wrench rack of any sort. I just lay them in. Works fine for me, and saves a ton of space and $$.

I have been doing the same thing it works better than I thought it would. I did buy some Ernst racks to go with my new craftsman industrials.

so fit my ever growing needs of wrenches, i take a piece of wood cut lines into them at 35 degrees. i then use a number/letter punch and mark them as required. nice and easy with no fuss.

I have Ernst rails housing my RP CM wrenches. Having recently gotten some new CM Pro Wrenches and a set of CM Industrial for my backup/home box, I needed more rails. Snap-On truck stopped by the shop today, so I picked up two sets of the KRA15's. They're going to be VERY versatile but I've noticed one (to me) major flaw -- From about 13/16 up they're not tall enough and the open end head on the wrench sits on the floor of the drawer, throwing it up at an obvious angle.

Ernst gets my vote at this point because of how they have the slot depth set allowing full seating of the wrench. I'll use the KRA15's, but they'll be cut and used on my smaller independent stuff (Flare nut, stubby's, ratcheting since they're all small enough, etch).

Here are my wrenches, the smaller ones at least! The bigger ones (7/8" +) hang on a wall.

These are Sears organizers mentioned a few posts back. (#35)

On the left are metric, swivel head ratcheting Gearwrench next to the same size solid box wrench 10mm 10mm, 11mm 11mm, 12mm 12mm, etc.
On the right is another rack with the SAE sizes. Bigger metric nestle in between the two trays. My 30mm for the air cooled VW crank pulleys rests against the drawer front.

It's compact and organized. it works extremely well for me. I'm not a pro so having quicker access isn't important but rather access with compact organization is.

I labeled each size grouping with my P-touch. The smallest wrenches are in the front, unlabeled along with my Crowfeet.

Does anyone know if the Snap On rails KRA22A or KRA15A will fit nicely in the HF 5 drawer service cart? After reading all the comments I'm still not sure if I should get 1 of each of these or two KRA22A. I don't have any wrenches over 1' or 20mm. Should I just pick up two KRA22A?

Well the Ernst rails have the exact opposite problem... they are too tall to use with larger wrenches in a shallow (2") drawer.

I thought about trying their low pro version but it's only designed to hold 15 metric or SAE wrenches and I don't like how it's designed so that both sets are opposite each other (1 small to large and the other, large to small). I know they do in order to fit narrower drawers but I have wide drawers and would like both sets to go small to large.

MLittle,

What brand/type are your drawer gaurds and is that a 1022?
How do you like the racks vs. the low profile Ernst stuff?

I changed mine a bit last year as I added a couple of wrench sets and was out of space. I discarded the trimmed trays that I was using and ordered a couple more wrench racks from my Matco dealer as well as a couple of rails to accomodate them.

Mike.

This is my current setup. SAE on the left, Metrics on the right half of the drawer.
