Wrench racks phoo

I've bought a couple wrench racks to try, a spring metal with a handle from HF, and a plastic drop in rack from Ace hardware, not an exhaustive list of the finest, but enough to get a taste for the type of product, and I don't like them.

The angle of the V doesn't match my wrenches. I have some full sets, but I also have several 10mm and several types of some sizes so it worked out MUCH nicer to lay them out in the drawer.

Most products straddle the line between display and efficient storage, so I lost no space laying them out vs the racks.

I would still like to find something that packs them fairly tight on their side instead of flat, but for now they are laid out flat in my new drawers on that non slip rubber stuff.

Probably not the most optimal setup, but I have a combination of racks and original SO trays for the large drawer of wrenches. The drawer above it is thinner, so I have specialty-type wrenched in there (s, angled, line, adjustable, etc..)

Not getting full sets is what messes me up. I tend not to have anything in the long spots at the top, and too many things in the middle. I also don't want to get full sets, just what this car uses, but everything that might be handy and mismatched types look terrible in the same rack.

The used SnapOn guy at one of the swapmeets I go to has a variety of racks and trays, so I may give a couple more a try. Tomorrow the ones I have so far go back.

I used to use those rack strips with the adhesive tape on the back. You can cut them to any length needed and customize the placement and angle to suit your situation.
They are probably not the prettiest things, but worked well for me. I just stuck them right to the drawer liners.

i use a piece of dense foam with slits cut into it about 4" wide. and it's double stuck to the drawer.

much easier i too wanted mine vertical, and i didn't want something pre-made because i have a bunch of weird doubles and stuff, so, it's cool for me.
