I picked up some wrenches last night and want to see what sizes I need to make a full set. I have some snap-on, matco, and mac , but I am not sure if they are full sets or not.

normally a full set is from 3/8 to 1", but could go to 1-1/4"
some include the 11/32 wrench, but most dont. I have the craftsman wrench holders and they go from 1/4 to 7/8" including the 11/32.
For metric the holder goes from 7 to 18mm i believe.
But most metric sets have 9~17. Metric sets seem to be all over the place missing some in between most of the time.
So i guess i would consider a full set 12 combo wrenches, but for most a 10 pcs set is sufficient.

WOW that is a huge set, 4-21 no skips.:scared:

Wish my set was that complete.

Well it's 4-11mm in those little mini-ignition wrench things, then 7 or 8-21 in normal combos i think.

The downside is that they're in my least favorite wrench ever, but that's another discussion. :p

These are all metric, will a snap-on dealer have a way to look up all the wrenches made in that series. Most sets I have seen do not included every step by 1mm from 8 to 22.

Yeah they'll be able to do that. :) You'll buy the main set, and then probably the rest individually.

True most sets out there in the retail world don't, but Snap-on is not just some retailer. They do normally include all metric digits and fractional denominators.

Look at the web site, you can reference sets there.

Even though most retailers don't sell complete sets, they do sell the wrenches separately to fill in those blanks if you so choose too.

metric can range form 6-19 or 8-19. But a min it should cover 10-19. And on large metric, US skips 20mm and EU skip 21mm allot.

List what you have here and we can look it up on their website, or you can do so yourself. It's not a bad site, pretty easy to navigate.

I know Snap On and SK have 9/32 combo wrenches.Hardest wrench to find in sae is 1 3/16 commonly used on older transfer cases in 4x4 trucks for the fill and drain plugs. Some sets mainly the cheap metric sets leave out 18mm most of the time sometimes 15mm.

3/16" - 1"

Bob,
3/16 is 9/32, they are one and the same.

I was mostly talking about a normal set of combos. These smaller sizes are mostly found as ignition wrenches. Most consider those a different category.

Also true 19/32 and 25/32 were excluded cause those have not been used for quite some time. Fun to look for at swapmeets thought.
