Wrench Storage for Stubby Gearwrench's?

I got myself a set of stubby flexhead Gearwrenches for Xmas, and I would like to get them in my box, but NOT in the plastic holders they came in, they take up too much space! I would like something like the usual wrench racks, you know, kinda angled, but most of them get wider to hold longer wrenches. I need something stays narrow the whole way. I figured one of you may have a lead.

Pics for fun. BTW these are pretty nice wrenches, decent finish and nice racheting mechanism. Metric and Standard for $180. And they actually give you useful sizes in metric unlike the stupid Craftsman sets:rolleyes: .

I just bought a SK one from my local tool dealer (Clark Tool) for my stubbies. Its straight the whole length. I believe its a 7 slot but they also offer the single width in a 9 & 11 (maybe even 13) slot version. They have the little "handles" so you can hang them or carry them around but I was going to snip mine off so it took up less room in the drawer.

What sizes are missing from the Craftman-branded ones?

The Craftsman set has 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, and 18 mm, where the Gearwrench set has 10-19mm. Personally I'd much rather have the 14, 16, and 19mm ones than an 8mm. And that set costs $30 more for 3 fewer wrenches.

This is where my stubbies live, but I'd like them for all my wrenches. It's magnetic at each wrench spot, so they don't shift back & forth... and it's also magnetic on the back - won't slide around in the box, and you can pull it out of your box and stick it to the bottom of the car, or on a floor jack or creeper frame, whatever...

I like the looks of that wrench rack. Looks like I will have to see if snappy has any on the truck.

ernst grippers makes a nice compact holder.... have them at home, and work... no pics now though....

as for the 8mm, i use it as much as the 10mm.... ford battery cables and many other apps on fords

I have this rack. Bought the Mac version off ebay. It came with two racks (metric/ sae). It works great but the wrenches sit high and you need to put it in a deeper draw then just the regular reversable rack or the oem carton.

I will say they are nice and make grabbing a wrench easy. It also pitches the wrench at the perfect hieight to read for a 5'9" guy.

There are these foam strips to hold wrenches. I bought an old cornwell box and it had a few of these unused strips in them. I tried a quick google search but couldn't find anything. I'll snap a picture when I get home from work.
It's inexpensive and looks like it would be perfect for stubbies. Might be a little too inexpensive tho.

Are they the ones that Sears sells?

Either way, I will save nissan_crawler the bother and show you his box (from another wrench organization thread). After seeing his, I bought some of the foam strips and will use them for all of my wrenches when I get a box with enough room.

Those are exactly the foam strips i'm referring to. Good to know they're at sears :D
I'll likely pick some of those up too, that looks really good.
