Wrenches from the 30’s

Just picked these up for free from an old Newburyport family. These wrenches came their neighbor. She was widowed, but rather stay home, and mourn her loss, decided to travel. The home is on the bank of the Merrimack river, where she built from scratch a steel hull boat. These tools were given to the POs grandfather before she took off.

Don’t know much about these oldies, but I think they’re a lot of automotive from the thirties…

Yes, indeed from the early years, and I might add they are in very nice condition good job!(y)(y)(y)
If you ever get the chance take a small rag and dip it in some oil and run that rag over every wrench in order to keep future rust at bay.

If I had found those wrenches it would have put a big smile on my face.:)

Left on 2nd image is a tractor wrench from either a Ford N or a Ferguson.

The Pierce wrench for Pierce-Arrow which ceased in 1938.

Second picture: First one could be a Massey Ferguson plow wrench, second one a Billings & Spencer item, next one a Barcalo made wrench, the last one with the 'turned' heads is a textile pattern and is marked with bolt sizes as was done in the mid 1920's

I would dearly love to have the Willys (there is no ease in Willis)-Overland wrench, mangled or not. EDIT: Love the rule on the Massey-Ferguson. The No. 267 with the <M> logos is Mossberg.

Here is a ‘set’ salted into the hoard. All marked IV. Almost all of these poor wrenches are well used, their ends stretched. Though no longer particularly useful (without machining) I love how they record the efforts of the person who owned them.5669878F-2103-4EB5-8F04-E66BFCFD331A.jpeg

When I first read it I could have sworn the title to this thread was Wenches from the 30s. Apparently I’ve got women on my mind. :)
