I got a Wright 3400 ratchet a while back and have only used it a few times (been using a few others instead). The rubber handle is kind of neat. It feels pretty indestructible and, in spite of it not being a modern 400 tooth ratchet, works really well

Wright 3400 owners, your input on these ratchets?

I am not a fan of the tootsie roll handle. I however love my contour handle wrights. The double pawl 3/8" is fine enough for me and a few places fit better than my 80 tooth snap ons.

I love those tootsie roll ratchets but I never reach for them for some reason. I don't really know why. I even have a brand new 1/2" that I haven't used and it's been years. I can't speak to how well they work, obviously, but I like them :)

I bought it because it was on a random Amazon sale, and I knew it'd be good quality and was American made. I put it in a spare socket tool box and just sort of forgot about it. I'm going to start using it

For some reason I don't automatically reach for one of the tootsie rolls; I have to force myself to use them. After I do, though, I realize how comfortable they are (hence the name "comfort grip", I suppose) and always wonder why I don't use them more often — then proceed to forget about them until I once again force myself to use them.

I'm not sure why, either. My Ko-ken Zeal ratchets have a black composite grips too, and yet I reach for them more often. At the same time, my contour-grip Wrights have the same mechanism, but I reach for them more often than the comfort-grips.

Maybe it's just that they're ugly?

That is actually enough to keep me from buying one.
I get that. I have a couple of them, but they came to me as incidentals to other purchases. The looks always kept me from buying one outright, and it's actually a shame because they do work well (when I can convince myself to use one!)

I have a few, retainer balls seem to fall out. Other than that they are good. The handles get deformed (flat spots) from sitting 20-30 years. :)
